Mimesis
Many of my mimetic experiences happens when I can relate emotionally to something, such as a character in a movie who gets hurt. My key word that I use to associate mimesis with is something like imitation. It can also be described representation or the act of resembling. So, for example in the movie Saw, when the main character has to saw off his leg in order to escape death, the audience and myself literally feels as if my own leg is being cut off. That feeling you have deep in your stomach and you can't help but to close your eyes so the pain you feel yourself goes away. A similar situation is the chilling feeling I, like many, feel when you watch a car accident. In these events, you can't help but to resemble the experience yourself.
